I’m Virginie Horward and I am from Belgium. After spending nine years in Singapore, I figured that it was better to see something once than to hear it a thousand times. So, I decided to quit my job, pack a suitcase, buy a ticket and travel for yet an undetermined time. I embarked on what would be an adventure of a lifetime. I am what we call a ‘solo independent traveller’. I hit the road around South East Asia, starting from Indonesia to Sri-Lanka, India and Nepal, all the way to Japan, Oceania, Europe and USA. I travelled on a very tight budget (you can’t really expect to travel for more than two years if you don’t watch your expenses), couch surfing with locals, learning how they live/survive, sharing their food and public transports. Then I realised that adventures are the best ways to learn. Choosing to live a life of a traveler is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I would never regret taking the chance to leave it all behind me. Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer so why not continue that way?
